The Upper Peninsula has the resources it needs to thrive but needs a catalytic push forward.
Our Vision is to forge the Keweenaw into the startup innovation hub for advanced materials and manufacturing in the Upper Midwest Region. We have a strong starting foundation; the Keweenaw contains a technology cluster in advanced materials and manufacturing based around the Michigan Technological University (MTU), a pillar public research university that has focused on education and innovation in materials and manufacturing since 1885. There is a strong base of companies and talent here already.
MTU is the designated hub for advanced materials commercialization research and can be used to fund technology development or commercialization milestones for innovations originating from Michigan Universities. Many of the startups that MTEC supports in their incubator and advisory programs have an advanced materials and manufacturing focus. The development AMMP Accelerator program is a logical next step to continue to support startups as they grow their businesses and create a roadmap to raise investment capital for the first time.
Our Mission is to catalyze and support entrepreneurs in the Upper Midwest region as they build successful advanced materials and manufacturing companies.
