With a strong foundation in place, the region is home to a growing technology cluster centered around Michigan Technological University (MTU). Since 1885, MTU has been a leader in materials and manufacturing research, fostering a robust ecosystem of companies and talent.
As the state's designated hub for advanced materials commercialization, MTU provides funding for technology development and commercialization milestones. Many startups supported by MTEC’s incubator and advisory programs focus on advanced materials and manufacturing. The AMMP Accelerator is the next logical step—helping startups scale, secure investment, and drive regional innovation forward.
Our Mission is to catalyze and support entrepreneurs in the Upper Midwest region as they build successful advanced materials and manufacturing companies.
AMMP Accelerator at a Glance
WHAT WE DO
Target early stage companies in need of acceleration on the commercialization pathway.
Provide a 3-month long in-person, cohort-based program with sustained coaching and support from experienced entrepreneurs.
Work with our innovators to help them understand the market, their customers, and build a plan to first sales.
Provide introductions and access to potential investors.
Nurture peer support to encourage founders to learn from each other and expand their networks.
THE COHORT
We seek pre-revenue companies in the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing space that already have:
A strong founding team
A strong technology base
A solid understanding of their business model.
THE RESULT
Deeply familiarize each company with their market space
Guide each company to approach customers with a complete company brand
Prepare each company to approach investors for a $500k to $1M seed round.
